This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. It applies to justthefactsinvestigations.com.

It does not cover information you give us as a client during an investigation. That material is handled under the terms of your written engagement agreement and the confidentiality obligations of a licensed Texas investigations company. See Client information below.

Information you give us

If you complete our contact form, call, email or text us, we receive whatever you choose to send: typically your name, email address, phone number, and a description of what you need. We use it to respond to you and, if you become a client, to carry out the work.

We do not require you to create an account, and the site does not sell anything.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one records basic technical information when you visit: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you view.

This comes from two sources. Our hosting provider, Squarespace, records standard server and analytics data. We also use Google Analytics, which uses cookies to help us understand how visitors find and use the site. Google’s handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

We use this information to understand how the site is being used and to keep it working. It is not used to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

This site uses cookies, small files stored by your browser. They support basic site function and, through Google Analytics, help us understand which pages are visited. You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings; parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

You will have seen a cookie notice when you first visited. Your choice there governs what non-essential cookies are set.

What we do not do

Being direct about this, because it matters to the people who contact us:

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share it with advertisers, and there are no advertising networks operating on this site.
• We do not use your inquiry to add you to a marketing list. We will not email you about anything other than the matter you contacted us about.

Who we share information with

We share information only where it is necessary to run the business or where the law requires it:

• Squarespace, the platform that hosts this website and delivers our contact form
• Google Analytics, which processes site usage data as described above
• Namecheap, which provides our business email
• Law enforcement or courts, if we are required to respond to a lawful request, subpoena or court order

These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

Client information

This is the part most likely to matter to you.

Information you provide once you engage us, and the material we develop during an investigation, is not covered by this website policy. It is handled under your written engagement agreement and under the confidentiality standards required of a licensed Texas investigations company. We do not discuss cases, disclose that someone is a client, or share investigative material with anyone outside the engagement, except where the law requires it.

Case files are retained for seven years from the date the case is closed. They are stored on encrypted, password-protected systems with encrypted backups, and access is limited to the licensed investigator handling the matter.

How long we keep website information

Inquiries that do not become cases are deleted after three months. Technical log and analytics data is retained by Squarespace and Google on their own schedules.

Where an inquiry does become a case, the case file retention period above applies instead.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to info@justthefactsinvestigations.com and we will respond within thirty days.

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the other rights apply and you can exercise them at the address above. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

Note that requests to delete information do not override our obligation to retain case records, or any legal requirement to preserve material.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

This site links to a small number of outside pages, including our Google Business Profile and the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes

If this policy changes we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top.
